Frequently asked questions

Your questions answered

Q: Do I have to apply online?

A: Applications must be via the website. This enables us to deal with your application in the most appropriate way. To search for opportunities, simply search by role and/or location.

Q: What should I do if I can't find a location or role I want?

A: You can register to receive alerts when locations or roles become available. That way you'll be one of the first to know when a vacancy arises.

Q: What documents will I need during the application process?

A: All applications require you to attach a CV, but you may also be asked for information about your qualifications, so it may be worth having those details to hand. If you don't have the information you need, you can save your application and come back a little later if necessary.

Q: What kind of interview can I expect?

A: We try and make the application process simple and straightforward. The type of interview or assessment may vary, depending on the role you have applied for. We also aim to give you helpful advice to help you really shine.

You may be asked to take part in a telephone interview. This is a nice and easy way to help us build a picture of your skills and experience and also lets you find out more about the role and how to join Capita.

All our roles have key competencies, which are the behaviours we look for in our people, so you may be asked to have a competency interview. This involves you telling us about certain situations you've been in and how you've behaved to achieve a desirable outcome. This helps us get a clear idea of your strengths and any areas we may need to develop, based upon the demands of the job.

You may also have a behavioural interview, with questions about your motivation and style. Unlike classic job interviews, behaviour-based questions and answers relate to your motivation to excel and the ways you have acted, or would act, in the workplace when faced with hypothetical, but real, issues.

Dependant on the role, you may be asked to take part in an assessment centre. This assists us to assess how you perform in different situations – eg, a practical or discussion-based group exercise, an aptitude or psychometric assessment, or a presentation, where you will be notified of a topic in advance

Q: I'd like to know more about the company, where do I go?

A: Our company website holds a wealth of information about us. Simply go to www.capita.co.uk.  You can also find links to our business websites where you can get more detailed information about our services and products.

Q: How will I know if my application has been received?

A: You will receive an automated email to confirm receipt of your application.

Q: Can I change any of my details once I’ve submitted my application?

A: In order to complete your application, you will need to register your details on the site. Once this is done, you will be sent a confirmation email with your password, which will allow you to log back in to the site at any time to update your details.

Q: What happens if I miss the closing date?

A: Unfortunately we can’t accept any applications after the closing date has passed for a vacancy. If you’ve missed the closing date for a role then why not register to receive alerts? Then we’ll keep you up to date with any other opportunities that might interest you in the future.

Q: What happens if I lose my web connection during my application?

A: Just go to the online application page and enter your email address and password to log back in to your application, when your connection returns. If you have created an account and used the ‘save as draft’ feature, none of your answers will have been lost.

Q: I have lost my password. How can I log back in to my application?

A: Just go to the online application page and enter your email address and select the ‘forgotten my password’ link. You will then need to reset your password, which will be sent to your email address.

Q: What documents will I need to progress my application?

A: You are required to provide proof you can work in the UK and you may be asked to provide proof of qualifications.

Q: When can I expect to receive feedback on my application?

A: We endeavour to contact all candidates within five days of the vacancy closing date. If you are successful you will be contacted by a Recruitment Consultant for an initial pre-screen telephone interview.
