Supporting community regeneration through client partnerships
Supporting community regeneration through client partnerships
As well as benefiting our clients’ operations through improved service delivery, we bring wider benefits to the public and local communities where we work. Through our client partnerships we help to regenerate our local communities. We create more jobs for local people and wherever possible to use local suppliers.
We are also often involved in the physical regeneration of our local communities. For example, through our strategic partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council, our Capita Symonds property consultancy business has worked on a project to build a £12.7 million state-of the-art sport and leisure centre. The project began with the demolition of the existing structure within a conservation area. The new building, designed to fit with Darwen’s urban environment, optimises user comfort through a combination of mechanical engineering, natural lighting and solar control. The new facilities have benefited the whole borough, supporting the local economy and regeneration of the town centre.
Client programme
Where a client has a particular social agenda we can work with them to help them achieve their goals. For example as part of a recent contract win we are working in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to improve gas safety in the home.
We have introduced a new Gas Safety Charity, donating an initial £1.7million to the Charity as part of Capita’s commitment to this investment to helping improve gas safety. This will be supplemented by annual donations of a percentage of our revenues from the operation of the Gas Safe Register™. We will also be seeking to create partnerships to gain support and contributions from across the gas industry to support a programme of raising public awareness regarding gas safety.
