Volunteering Policy
Volunteering Policy
Capita are committed to working in partnership with the local communities where we work to support and benefit the communities. Through our community investment programme 'Capita in the Community' we aim to tackle exclusion of all kinds. We have a central framework, basing our activities around three themes: education, social exclusion and health.
The programme is managed centrally at a Group level, and also at an individual level, allowing us to address specific local needs.
Scope
The policy applies to all Capita employees within Capita Group.
Policy
Capita is a people business and our employees are critical to the success and growth of our business. We encourage and support personal and career development and recognise that our employee volunteering scheme allows our employees the opportunity to develop and learn new skills ourside of their day to day roles.
Through the scheme we encourage our employees to use their knowledge, skills and resources to make a positive contribution in their local communities.
We enable our employees to get involved in volunteering activities for 1 day (8.5 hours) work time per annum on activities within our Group volunteering scheme. This time should be used at appropriate times approved by an employee's line managers in advance, ensuring that it does not disrupt or have any adverse affects on our business activities and priorities.
Process
We use Business in the Community (BITC) to run our volunteering scheme. They identify community projects within our local communities. Employees can select a suitable project that suits their skills and personal interests. Existing projects are advertised on Connections and BITC are also able to create bespoke projects where appropriate. More detailed information can be found on Connections.
