Capita’s presence within the United Kingdom National Defence Sector is both longstanding and specialised.

At the Corporate level, Capita is part of the Defence Career Partnership interfacing with DCDS (Pers)’ organisation within MOD; we are shortly to commence a Pilot for the Partnering for Talent recruiting initiative in support of the FR20 Review of Reserve Forces. Capita is also working closely with Sabre to ensure that the Sabre supportive accreditation already achieved by some business units, is rolled out across the Group.

Capita supports a number of Reservists in all three Services, some of whom have recently served in Operational Theatres; We encourage a good working relationship with the RFCA’s both at the local and national level.

The range of Services delivered to, and on behalf of the MOD, include Property Services, Secure Information Services, Recruitment and Health Services, specifically;

• Capita Health completes circa 18,000 recruitment medicals per annum for the Royal Navy and the RAF and also delivers interim GP Services to a number of Army bases in the UK.
  
• Capita Secure Information Solutions provides a Managed Service & Integrated Communication Control System for the MOD Airwave Command and Control System; it currently manages over 75,000 radio terminals providing maintenance, profiling, installation, upgrade and technology refresh on a catalogue order basis.
  
• The BAE/Capita IT Services Information Management Systems and Technology function (IMST) has 85 Capita employees and over 80 BAE Systems Submarine Solutions employees working together to deliver the IT capability to the Submarine Solutions business.  It supports over 5,000 users at numerous locations, including Barrow-in-Furness, Faslane, Farnborough, Weymouth, Derby, Portsmouth, Waterlooville and Abbeywood. Together we supply service desk capability, desktop support, technical services, development, project management, voice and video conferencing, I.T infrastructure, business analysis, contract management and more. 
• In partnership with Brand Rex, Capita IT Services also delivers and installs the fibre optic network which will provide the robust infrastructure for all IP based communications requirements on the two Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft carriers – from voice and data systems to sophisticated aircraft deployment communications – creating a flexible and resilient communications system capable of serving the needs of these modern warships.
  
• Capita Resourcing has, under the Cipher agreement, a recruitment services contract for the supply and engagement of professional contractors (manpower substitutes) for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) working across a broad range of categories encompassing engineering, logistics, finance, HR, ICT and Project & Programme management.
  
  Interfacing with the PPPA (People, Pay & Pensions Agency) Capita is responsible for sourcing, assessing and engaging skilled contractors for the supply of key labour skills. Capita will be responsible for selecting and managing a network of suppliers with capabilities to supply candidates across the full breadth of MoD requirement. The service went live in May 2009 and has delivered significant process efficiencies whilst increasing the speed and quality of manpower substitutes supplied.
  
• Capita Symonds has a well proven track record spanning more than 30 years in the design and construction of Defence buildings in all fields of the MoD’s range of accommodation. These include residential, laboratory, healthcare, office, workshop and hanger buildings featuring both new-build and refurbishment, including hardened structures with radiological and bacteriological design. 
  
  Specific recent projects have included the design and fit out of the New HQ Land Forces at Andover, and bespoke Architectural and infrastructure projects at Headley Court, Colchester, HMS Nelson and RAF Brize Norton.
  
• Working in partnership with the Civil Service Pensions Division of the Cabinet Office, Capita Hartshead is the scheme practitioner for the MOD Principle Civil Service Pension Scheme.

Capita’s Defence Advisory Board comprises a small number of carefully selected and approved former Senior Officers and ex other Service Personnel with specialist skills, all of whom operate quietly behind the scenes to help ensure the appropriate blend of ethos, Military knowledge and lifestyle are engrained in the concepts we propose.

Capita is a List X site operator and Security is at the forefront of its requirements and capabilities, with significant and growing numbers of CLAS Consultants and DV/SC cleared staff.
